Six Attorneys Named to 2017 Super Lawyers List

The annual Super Lawyers list of top attorneys in the state of Indiana includes six Bunger & Robertson attorneys for 2017. Attorneys William J. Beggs, Samuel R. Ardery, Brian R. Drummy, Jessica L. Merkel, James L. Whitlatch, and Joseph D. O’Connor were all named Super Lawyers through the selection process which involves nominations, independent research, and peer evaluation.

No more than five percent of the attorneys in the state of Indiana are named as Super Lawyers.

William “Bill” J. Beggs is a partner with Bunger & Robertson and practices primarily in the areas of civil litigation and general business representation. Bill’s career has allowed in many opportunities to serve in professional organizations, including the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates. He is also the past director of the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana.

Samuel “Sam” R. Ardery has been recognized multiple times by his peers in the past three decades he has been practicing law. He was named one of the Top 10 Lawyers in Indiana in 2014, is consistently chosen among the Top 50 Lawyers in Indiana, and is routinely listed as one of the Best Lawyers in America.

Brian R. Drummy has represented plaintiffs and defendants in both State and Federal Court and is passionate about serving his clients in and out of the courtroom. Brian’s practice primarily focuses on representing people and families in personal injuries matters but he also handles complex business disputes and breach of contract claims.

Jessica L. Merkel, a Bloomington native, has a heart for helping people of all ages with estate planning needs. As a partner with Bunger & Robertson, she practices in estate planning, trust and probate administration, estate, trust and fiduciary litigation, guardianship administration, and family law.

James “Jim” L. Whitlatch is a partner committed to helping individuals and organizations in health care law, employment and labor law, business entities and civil litigation. He has been an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University since 1989, teaching “Legal Aspects of Health Care.”

Joseph “Joe” D. O’Connor has worked with Bunger & Robertson since he was a clerk with the firm in law school. He became a partner in 1983 and was recently recognized by his peers for his career achievements and was inducted into the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers.

Super Lawyers is a rating service by Thomson Reuters of lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.
